Description
Saturn. Artwork of Saturn seen against a starfield. Saturn, after Jupiter, is the second largest planet in the solar system with a radius of about 60,000 kilometers. Its average distance from the Sun is about 1425 million kilometers (9.5 Astronomical Units). Saturn takes 29.5 terrestrial years to make an orbit around the Sun whereas the Saturnian day lasts 10.7 terrestrial days. Like Jupiter, it is mainly composed of hydrogen and helium with small quantities of methane and ammonia. The image clearly shows the Cassini's division as a dark, narrow band in the planet's ring system.
