Description
The White Spotted Glass Frog (Cochranella albomaculata) ranges through lower Central America. It is a member of the family Centrolenidae. Frogs of this family typically have translucent ventral surfaces through which the beating heart and all viscera can easily be observed. These frogs breed over slow flowing streams. They deposit egg clutches on leaves above the water. The hatching tadpoles fall into the stream and typically develop buried in the streams detritus or below rocks. This frog was photographed in 2008 in the Atlanta Botanical Garden's amphibian conservation laboratory.
