Coal Fossil - Annularia, two leaf whorls of Calamites (2.5" diameter), tree-like relatives of modern horsetails that could grow to 100 feet high during the Carboniferous Period, Pennsylvanian Epoch, some 300 million years ago. Specimen courtesy of Penn State University Museum of Geology.
