Description
A person with myopia is someone who is shortsighted or nearsighted. This is because the focal point of the light entering the eye falls in front of the retina instead of on it. In the case of myopic degeneration there are progressive fundus changes that get worse over time due to the progressive enlargement of the globe. Extensive retinal and choroidal thinning can result, exposing the sclera and leading to atrophy of the choriocapillaris and RPE.
