The completed assembly of the upper, or forward, part of the core stage for the Space Launch System (SLS) rocket for the Artemis II mission is lifted out of the assembly structure at NASA’s Michoud Assembly Facility in New Orleans, LA, on December 15, 2021. The Artemis missions aim to establish a long-term human presence on the Moon in preparation for future missions to send astronauts to Mars.
