Description
The cerebellum is a major feature of the hindbrain of all vertebrates. In humans, the cerebellum plays an important role in motor control. The cerebellum consists of three layers. The stratum moleculare contains Glia cells and the flattened dendritic trees of Purkinje cells. The cell bodies of the Purkinje cells (three shown here) lie in the narrow Purkinje layer (Stratum gangliosum), to which the Stratum granulosum (red) adjoins, which is densely packed with granule cells (red-brown zone). Light microscope, bright field, stacking magnification 400x (when long side 15cm).
