Description
This color enhanced frontal projection from a conventional catheter cerebral angiogram of the brain demonstrates the large high-flow AVM in the temporal lobe (on viewers left) with the large round ball-like collection of blood vessels(blue) representing the nidus of the AVM. The large dominant draining vein (predominantly red) is seen extending from the top of the nidus superiorly (towards the top of the head). AVMs are dangerous because of there potential for hemorrhage (bleeding) but they can also result in strokes, seizures, headaches and even death.
