Description
Dendropsophus rhodopeplus, the red-skirted tree frog, is an inhabitant of the wet forests of the upper Amazon basin. Strongly nocturnal, these fragile hylid frogs never grow larger than an inch or so. This is a newly metamorphosed frog, only two days out of the water. It was photographed atop a delicate fern frond at the CICRA biological research center, Madre De Dios, Peru during a night hike.
