Description
Retinal vein occlusion. An occlusion or hemorrhaging of the retina illuminated by a flourescein angiogram for contrast. Flourescein is a type of dye which is used in conjunction with an angioram (a study of the blood vessels). This test provides information about the circulatory system and the condition of the back of the eye. The test is performed by injecting flourescein into a vein in the arm and in seconds the dye travels to the blood vessels inside the eye. A camera equipped with special filters, which highlights the dye, is then used to determine if there are any abnormalities.
