Description
The Ottoman rhinoplasty physician Sabuncuoglu. Sabuncuoglu Serafeddin (1385-1468) was a medieval Ottoman surgeon and physician. In 1465, at the age of 80 years, he wrote a book called Cerrahiyyetu'l-Haniyye (Imperial Surgery) the first illustrated surgical atlas and the last major medical encyclopedia from the Islamic world. Female surgeons were also illustrated for the first time in the Imperial Surgery. Among its surgical techniques were the ligating of the temporal artery for migraine, a breast reduction procedure and rhinoplasty.
