Description
Color enhanced scanning electron micrograph of sour cherry (Prunus cerasus) pollen. The Montmorency century-old cultivar is by far the easiest to find on the market, providing spectacular bloom in very early spring, and an abundant crop of red-skinned, yellow-fleshed, pink-juiced fruit in July, outstanding for cooking and pie-making. A cherry tree grows about 7m tall. Sour cherries are in the same genus, Prunus, as peaches, plums, sweet cherries etc. Image width 98.5 micrometers. Magnification 1015x if the image is printed 10 cm wide.
