Description
Titanic crew survivors attending a memorial service at the American Seamen's Friend Society Sailors' Home and Institute, New York City, USA. The Titanic was the largest ocean liner ever built at the time, and was reputed to be unsinkable. However, during its maiden voyage it struck an iceberg in the North Atlantic on the night of 14 April 1912 and sank with the loss of 1517 lives. Of the 913 crew, only 215 survived.
