Artist's Description

"Fuel elements are loaded into the core of General Electric Company's Vallecitos developmental boiling water reactor, which today produced steam for this country's first all-privately financed atomic power. Steam produced was supplised to a 5,000-kilowatt turbine generator installation built by the Pacific Gas & Electric Company. Electricity produced was fed into a PG&E transmission system for use in northern an central California. The historic nuclear power plant was completed in a year and five months, believed to be a record for construction of an atomic power plant."
