Description
"Bucker" snowplows of the Central Pacific Railroad were pushed by as many as eight wood-burning locomotives in order to ram their way through snowdrifts that sometimes reached more than thirty feet in depth. This plow was photographed near Cisco, 92 miles from Sacramento, in the winter of 1867. Photo by Alfred A. Hart, official Central Pacific Railroad photographer.
